FOLKTERRA connects the workshops of Fengxiang, in Shaanxi Province, with collectors and homes around the world. We work directly with artisans in Liuying Village, where hand-painted clay figurines have been made for generations, and we present their work with the care and context it deserves.

Every figurine we offer is made by hand. Clay is shaped, dried and fired, then painted brushstroke by brushstroke in the bold, joyful colours of the Fengxiang tradition. Because no two pieces pass through exactly the same hands in exactly the same way, small variations are part of what makes each one original.

To honour both the maker and the collector, each piece is signed and numbered by the artisan and accompanied by a numbered certificate. That number is a small promise: this is not a mass-produced copy, but one finished work from a living craft.

We choose figurines that sit happily in a modern home — zodiac animals, auspicious guardians and decorative figures that carry good wishes as well as colour. Whether you are starting a collection or choosing a single meaningful gift, we hope FOLKTERRA brings a little of Fengxiang’s warmth, humour and heritage into your home.

When you order, your figurine is packed with the same care it received in the workshop: reinforced, protective packaging for a fragile, handmade object, and clear information about its care and display.
